~July 4th 2011

I visited one of my favorite places on planet Earth today for the 4th of July.

Luckenbach, TX always takes my soul to a peaceful place; where good music and good people come together to share.

Today I was there to check out Walt Wilkins and The Mystiqueros!  I was pleasantly surprised to find Jimmy Davis of Memphis, TN sittin in!!

Picker Circle w/Bill Lewis and one of the roosters closed this day out.

Fun, fun, fun. . .

On a side note; I didn't hear one fire cracker or see a firework in the sky this 4th of July but I did see some fine fine musicians and songwriters sharing what's in their hearts.

It was beautiful!

Texas Independence Celebration ~ Luckenbach Texas

Ive always enjoyed my visits to Luckenbach Texas and today was no exception.  A laid back atmosphere, live music, and an awesome all you could eat cat fish fry made for another good time.

Upon arrival, I always look Ron The Cowboy up.  We shot the shit - talked about our exs, kids, and career paths; all quite normal for us.  But today he was practicing his minister skills to be put to use for the absolute first time later in the day at a wedding ceremony A close look youll notice the bride and groom were both sportin flip flops.  Another fine example of you never know what youll see or hear about' in Luckenbach; especially when Rons involved.

The Original Texas Star Trail Ride folks were friendly and eager to talk cowboy.  One cowboy (from Corpus Christi) I made small talk with indicated they had been riding since 9am, finally coming to a rest in Luckenbach around 4:45pm.   We spent some time discussing the cowboy lifestyle and how he and his wife bought their children their first pair of boots at a very young age.  I couldn’t help but laugh and tell him about buying my kids their first pair of Nikes.  He got a big chuckle out of that

I stuck around for the first set of the band playing in the dancehall.  They were decent, not sure who they were though.  I was told the Trail Ride folk had broughtem in.  Good guitar and pedal steel players.

I cant help but admire the dancing folk in Texas; everyone knows how to dance!!  Young, old, and all ages in between

Im fixin to learn how to two step and waltz; sooner rather than later! !
