March 14th 1997 - A Big Time Cheerleader

There's sound but you'll need to turn things up a bit.

A little background...  Pacer officials indicated I was randomly selected.  I was warned before meeting Pacer mascot 'Boomer' aka Paul that I may not agree to terms! !

Had a blast; even got a gentleman's nod from Karl Malone during the hang out period backstage and while not decked in cheerleader drag. ;-)

March 14th 1997 Pacers/Jazz game - St. Patrick's Day based skit was during TNT's 1st TV timeout.  My son who was 7 at the time hung out courtside leading up to and during the skit.  After being reunited, I asked him how I did.

He responded, "d a d, I was embarrassed".

Queensrÿche - The Lady Wore Black (Live '91)

I got my first peek of Queensryche on December 2nd 1984 when they opened for Kiss on their Animalize Tour.

The scene back in the day was you skipped school, road tripped to Indianapolis, and got in line for the best chance at good seats. The venue was Market Square Arena.  A few nights later December 6th, another road trip to Hulman Center in Terre Haute for round 2.

I recall thinking at the time Kiss is legendary and cool to see, but what really transpired during those 2 shows were my admiration, appreciation, and respect of Queensryche’s musicianship and lyrical content.

I still feel that way today.  Tate, DeGarmo, Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield are tight.  If you’re a rock based drummer Scott Rockenfield is worthy of study…

The Lady Wore Black tune I’m sharing is from the Queensryche EP released in 1983 but being performed live in 1991. The Warning album was what the band was supporting in December 1984.  Later, July 13th, 1997 I caught the band supporting The Hear In The Now Frontier release at Deer Creek Music Center which is now corporately labeled Verizon Wireless Music Center.

Apartment Life

I’ve not called an apartment home since 1985 but I do now.  It’ll do for the time being.

Things I like about my crib-

  • Complex grounds are beautiful w/ H2O fountains, manmade ponds including ducks, and tropical based landscaping
  • Cost; my rent is very reasonable
  • Front Office folk are very service oriented
  • Close proximity to my employer (commute is 7 minutes)

Other than that, it’s an apartment for heaven’s sake!

Beavis & Butthead

A couple months ago I noticed a bit of a bulge slightly right and below the belt line during a routine pit stop. . .

I kept an eye on the matter as I was not experiencing pain and it did not seem to be persistent.  However, after my recent MS150 cycling adventure I experienced a moderate amount of pain and inflammation ‘down there’ and decided it was time to see my family physician.

He confirmed what I already suspected; hernia. Right Inguinal Hernia to be precise (Butthead).  On Thursday 10/8/2009 I saw a specialist within the hernia treatment space here in San Antonio.  To my surprise Dr. Dilworth found an additional hernia.   This new find is of the Umbilical nature (Beavis).

I’m having surgery to correct Beavis & Butthead on 10/21/2009.

Why the naming of my hernia’s and why Beavis and Butthead?

Stigma for one!

And two; Beavis = funny looking; my naval mirrors funny looking -- Butthead = pain in the ass; this hernia is proving to be a PAIN!

And finally, Dr Dilworth’s name reminded me of a famous line from Beavis and Butthead Series on MTV, ‘Shut up, Dillhole’.

On a serious note, I have great confidence in Dr. Dilworth as he works to get me back into full working order!

Rock on.
